Our Guideline for Sustainability
Energy consumption
-
Heat: Currently, we combine gas boilers and district heating from a combined heat and power (CHP) plant, which is powered by bio-gas. By the end of 2025, the entire heat generation is planned to be CO2-neutral through the CHP plant.
-
Electricity: Our photovoltaic (PV) system covers about 20% of our electricity needs, with an 80% self-consumption rate. We aim to further increase this in the long term. The lighting has mostly been switched to LED.

Water consumption
-
The highest water demand occurs in the concrete production, where we use water from our own well. Cleaning water is collected after use, filtered, and reintroduced into production.
Fleet
-
Passenger Cars: Most of our company vehicles are hybrid vehicles, and since 2017, we have been using an electric vehicle. Future vehicles will be fully electric or equally sustainable.
-
Forklifts: Our forklift fleet is 100% battery-operated.
Production
-
Painting: We use water-based 2K paints to minimize solvent emissions.
-
Concrete Production: We use CO2-reduced CEM-III 52.5/N cement.
-
Procurement: Where possible, we rely on local partners, but we also aim to further expand regional sourcing.
-
End of Product Life: Our products can be recycled at the end of their life cycle – steel is scrapped, and concrete is reused as construction rubble.

Waste
-
We focus on waste prevention during procurement and production. Where this is not possible, we use environmentally friendly packaging. Waste separation is mandatory.
Concrete: A Sustainable Choice
Concrete, with its relatively low CO2 emissions combined with its versatility and long lifespan, makes it one of the most sustainable building materials. Additionally, innovations such as CO2-sequestering concrete or the use of recycled materials are further steps to make concrete even more environmentally friendly.
While the construction industry as a whole is seeking solutions to reduce its ecological footprint, concrete remains a key component for sustainable construction projects.
